Oasis Tamarindo Location Fuerteventura Canary Islands Beaches
Without doubt Fuerteventura has some of the most impressive beaches in the whole of Europe. There is such a vast expanse of sand here. From the Golden sand dunes of Corralejo in the north to the miles of flat beaches in Jandia in the south. This makes Fuerteventura an ideal destination for the beach lover. These are the beaches that charm thousands of tourists to this beautiful island every year.
The white sandy beaches of Corralejo stretch far and wide along the east coast. Most of these beaches have sun bed and umbrella rental. Flag beach, by the two main hotels is one of the best places to try water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. For the more experienced try 'Glass beach'. Or if you don't fancy anything too strenuous 'Drop beach' is a bit further along the main road. With crystal clear waters and miles of sandy beaches, its hardly surprising that some of these dunes are used for fashion photo shoots and TV advertisements. Even within the town boundaries Fuerteventura's Corralejo has many beaches. The "Town" beach is ideal for families as it's clean, safe, sheltered and surrounded by restaurants (hence toilets) and bins.
The main reason behind the development of tourism in the Municipality of La Oliva is it’s natural, scenic and ecological beauty, as a large part of the territory is bathed by the sea. Most of the coast consists of beaches with crystal clear water ranging in colour form the deepest blue to the most transparent turquoise, with very fine sand ranging from white to golden. In the northeast area there is the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park, formed by a strip of sand which goes inland from the sea and constitutes one of the best examples of a sand ecosystem in the archipelago. It is of great scientific interest because of the different species of flora and fauna it contains. The paradisiacal panorama offered by these beaches, with the Island of Lobos Natural Park and the island of Lanzarote as a backdrop, is unforgettable. In the northwest the attraction is the idyllic beaches of los Lagos de El Cotillo, (Cotillo Lagoons) formed by several undisturbed small inlets with still water just waiting for us to take a dip and enjoy ourselves. |
